Summary of February, 2010 Parish Council Minutes  

  • Highways report that pothole problems are being addressed as a matter of urgency, and that more frequent speed monitoring will be carried out on Bridge Road over the coming weeks .
  • The Parish Council has regretfully received the resignation from the Council of Councillor Jacqui Mayle on account of ill health. North Norfolk District Council will advertise this vacancy on the Parish Council notice board.
  • The Clerk has reported complaints regarding mud on the carriageway of Church Lane to Highways and the farmer.
  • Another 3 Green Lane garden plot allotments will be made available by early April. Applications for these plots to be made in writing to the Clerk.
  • Representatives from BESL, Broads Authority, Environment Agency and Norfolk Wildlife Trust will give a presentation at March meeting on self-contained (bunded) reedbed and flooding of Candle Dyke marshes.
  • Noted approval of erection of single storey rear extension at Eatrholme, Bridge Road, and Flood Defence improvements and strengthening at Compartment 6A - Hickling, Horsey and Heigham Sound.
  • Noted approvasl of 4 detached dwellings and double garages, and terrace of 4 two storey dwellings and garage block between Creg Na Baa and Leisure Hour, Station Road. 
  • Resolved to object to part change of use from storage to retail use at Latham's QD, Bridge Road.
  • NNDC report that outstanding street nameplate replacement/repairs will be finalised bt the end of this month.
  • Received report from the Village Hall Management Committee on proceedings at it's February meeting, and received report from the Trust Fund Committee on proceedings at it's February meeting.
  • Agreed to purchase 2 new grit bins for Station Road/A149 junction, and Potter Heigham Bridge traffic lights.
  • The Clerk was requested to report potholes and A149 surface stripping to Highways.
  • The next Middle Thurne Working Group meeting has been re-arranged for 19 April, 2010.
  • Nominations for the Peter Sandell Good Neighbourhood Award fro 2009 must be received by the Clerk before 14 April, 2010. 
  • BESL report that riverbank vegetation clearance will starton on February. 
  • Received monthly Police Crime report - 12 calls received and 1 reported crime of  burglary.                                                                
  • Date of next Parish Council Meeting - 17 March, 2010.
